On 26th June Peter along with 19 other cyclists set off from Lake Geneva to cycle across the Southern Alps to Antibes. Crossing 31 cols in 5.5 days he cycled such famous climbs as Megeve, Col de L'Iseran, Col d'Izoard and Col du Bonette.
Peter who is a keen cyclist commented 'I like cycling anyway and so I thought I would combine my enthusiasm for the sport to help raise funds for two charities that resonate with me. As a sponsor and patron of Bristol rugby community foundation's 'Break the cycle' ride—an annual cycling event which involves cycling around 3 south west rugby clubs in a day to raise much needed funds - so I thought I'd take the challenge to France ! My second charity is the Stroke association and I have a couple of people close to me who have neem affected by stroke's so I thought this would be a good charity to support. In total I raised over £3,000 so thank you very much indeed.
I had a couple of memorable moments - ascending Val D'Isere covered in flies due to an infestation was pretty grim and then reaching the Col Du Bonette and descending in an apocalyptic thunderstorm complete with giant hailstones—it took me 3 hours to de-thaw!!
Anyway thank you all so much.
